Well I always like to munch on some savory item after breaking my fast. This is one among them. Very simple and easy pakoda/pakora/ fritters. My mom usually likes to eat them with a cup of tea and I usually make a green chutney to go with this.
Ingredients:
1 cup chana dal/ split Bengal gram
1 onion chopped
2 green chilly chopped
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
1/2 tsp chopped ginger
Salt
Oil for frying
Method:
Soak chana dal 2-3 hours in fresh cool water. Later drain out the water and transfer the chana dal to a food processor/mixi grind to coarse paste without adding any water. Don't make a smooth paste. Let it be coarse. Transfer it into a bowl add in chopped onions, coriander leaves, green chilies, ginger and salt. Give a good mix. Heat oil in kadia enough to immerse the pakodas. Once the oil is hot. With help of a tablespoon take out the mixture and drop it into the hot oil spoon after spoon. Fry the pakoras until brown and crisp on both sides and take them out on a platter with tissue to soak in any excess oil. Serve them hot with chutney or any dip. Enjoy
Tip:
1. If the chana dal mixture is very dry you can add in few spoons of water.
2. If the chana dal mixture is very thin you can add in some gram flour (besan) to dry it up.
