Jeera Pulao || Jeera Rice || cumin rice


I always love making this rice why because it goes so well with gravies and compliments well with any dish.
It's quite simple and easily done.

Ingredients:

3 cups basmati rice     
2 tsp jeera / cumin seeds
1 cinnamon stick
3 green cardamom
2 cloves
1 star anise
1 bay leaf
Oil 4 tbsp
Water 6 cups

I have used 160 ml cup for rice and water.

Method:

1. Wash and soak basmati rice for 20 min.
2. In a cooking pot pour oil. Once its hot add cinnamon , cardamom , clove, star anise and bay leaf. Saute for a while.
3. Add in cumin seeds and fry till its aromatic.
4. Add in drained basmati rice.
5. Fry the rice with the spices for few min.
6. Add water and season with salt. ( water should taste salty) and stir well.
7. Let it boil on high flame. Once the water is almost dry close the lid and simmer down for 15 min.
8. After 15 min fluff up the rice with fork and serve.

For garnish sprinkle some chopped coriander leaves.
